PayPal Casinos UK

How we earn: some casino links on this page may pay us a commission if you sign up. It costs you nothing and never moves a casino up our list. We list only UK Gambling Commission licensed casinos. 18+. Full disclosure.

Quick answer A PayPal casino is a UKGC-licensed site that lets you deposit and often withdraw through your PayPal account. PayPal requires its own approval for gambling merchants, and the Gambling Commission says casinos can only take e-wallet payments that block credit card funds. Confirm PayPal is in the casino’s cashier for both deposits and withdrawals before you sign up.

PayPal casinos UK explained
PayPal at UK casinos: approval, credit card blocking and what to check in the cashier.

Key takeaways

  • PayPal lists gambling among activities that need its approval, and only where the operator and customers are in places where gambling is legal.
  • The Gambling Commission names PayPal as an example of an e-wallet and says casinos must reject e-wallets that do not block credit card funds for gambling.
  • Credit cards have been banned for gambling in Great Britain since 14 April 2020, including through an e-wallet.
  • On their own sites, checked 29 September 2026, Betway, LeoVegas and PlayOJO list PayPal as a payment method. Still confirm it in the cashier for both deposits and withdrawals.
  • Some welcome offers exclude PayPal. Grosvenor’s offer excludes PayPal and Paysafe first deposits, and Unibet’s qualifies only with debit card or instant bank transfer.

What is a PayPal casino?

A PayPal casino is an online casino that lists PayPal in its cashier as a way to deposit, withdraw or both. In Great Britain it must also hold a Gambling Commission licence. PayPal is an e-wallet: you pay from your PayPal balance or a linked funding source, and the casino never sees your bank or card details.

The Gambling Commission describes an e-wallet as something that lets you combine multiple payment methods and use the same wallet with different gambling businesses. It names PayPal and Skrill as examples of e-wallet providers, and notes that some sites also allow digital payment services such as Apple Pay.

Being a “PayPal casino” is not a licence or a quality mark. It only describes one option in the cashier. What matters first is that the site is licensed. Our guide on how to check a UKGC licence shows you how to confirm that in a couple of minutes.

Does PayPal allow gambling payments in the UK?

Yes, with conditions. PayPal’s UK Acceptable Use Policy lists gambling, including casino games and sports betting, among activities that require PayPal’s approval. It permits them only where the operator and customers are located exclusively in jurisdictions where such activities are legal. A casino needs PayPal’s approval to accept PayPal.

That approval sits with the casino, not with you. From your side, there is no special setting to switch on. If a licensed casino shows PayPal in its cashier, it has arranged this with PayPal. If a site asks you to send PayPal money to a personal account, or to mark a payment as something else, stop: that is not how an approved merchant works.

Can you fund casino deposits through PayPal with a credit card?

No. Credit cards have been banned for gambling in Great Britain since 14 April 2020. The Gambling Commission says this includes using a credit card through an e-wallet or to deposit money into your e-wallet, and casinos must reject payments from any e-wallet that does not block credit card funds for gambling.

PayPal’s user agreement says you can link a credit card, debit card, prepaid card where available, a bank account or PayPal Credit where available as funding sources. For gambling in Great Britain, the credit card route is closed by the ban. The simplest approach is to set a debit card or your bank account as the funding source you use for gambling payments.

If a casino deposit fails, check your PayPal funding source before anything else. A credit card set as your preferred source can be the reason. Our credit card casinos guide explains the ban in full.

The rules behind PayPal casino payments in the UK
PayPal approval, the UKGC credit card ban and the casino’s own terms all apply.

How do you deposit at a casino with PayPal?

Open the casino cashier, choose PayPal, enter an amount, then log in to PayPal in the window that opens and approve the payment. Before that, the casino must have verified your age and identity, because in Great Britain you cannot gamble until you are verified. Make sure the names on both accounts match.

  1. Register and verify. The Gambling Commission says all online gambling businesses must ask you to prove your age and identity before you gamble.
  2. Set a deposit limit. Licensed sites must tell you how you can set limits on what you deposit or spend. Do it before your first payment.
  3. Check the funding source in PayPal. Use a debit card or bank account, not a credit card.
  4. Choose PayPal in the cashier. Read the minimum deposit and any fee shown. The Commission says companies should tell you about minimum deposit limits or fees for e-wallets.
  5. Approve in PayPal. Log in and confirm the payment.
  6. Check your balance. Keep the confirmation for your records.

Can you withdraw casino winnings to PayPal?

Often, but not always. Some casinos offer PayPal for deposits and withdrawals, while others take PayPal deposits but pay out by another method. The casino’s cashier and terms decide this. Check that PayPal appears as a withdrawal option, note the processing time the casino states, and look for any rule tying withdrawals to your deposit method.

Once the casino approves a withdrawal, the money goes to your PayPal balance. From there, you can keep it in PayPal or move it to your bank. The total time depends on the casino’s own review first, then PayPal. Our fast withdrawal casinos guide explains each stage of a cash-out and what can hold it up.

Remember the Commission’s rule on ID: a casino should not make identity checks a condition of withdrawing if it could have asked earlier. Checks for anti-money laundering can still happen, so reply promptly if the casino asks for information.

Which UKGC-licensed casinos can you compare?

Our table lists casinos with an active UKGC casino remote licence, checked on the public register on 29 September 2026. On 29 September 2026 we read each casino’s own payments or promotions page from a UK connection. Three list PayPal: Betway (its casino page names debit cards, e-wallets, open banking and PayPal, with a £5 minimum withdrawal for debit card and PayPal), LeoVegas (its payment methods page lists Visa Debit, Visa Electron, Mastercard, PayPal, Apple Pay and Open Banking, with a £10 minimum deposit by PayPal) and PlayOJO (its banking page lists PayPal alongside Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Trustly, Paysafecard and instant bank transfer). For the other casinos, open the cashier to confirm PayPal before you deposit.

Order: casinos whose welcome offer we have read on their own site come first; the rest follow. Offers and banking facts were read from each operator's UK site on the date shown. Licence numbers link to each operator's entry on the Gambling Commission public register.

Two verified welcome offers rule PayPal out. Grosvenor’s welcome offer (£40 bonus plus 100 free spins on Big Bass Splash for a £20 first deposit) excludes PayPal and Paysafe first deposits, according to its promotion page checked on 29 September 2026. Unibet’s offer, 300 free spins at £0.10 each on Big Bass Splash for depositing and staking £30 on slots with 10x wagering, qualifies with debit card or instant bank transfer only (Unibet promotions page, checked 29 September 2026). PlayOJO lists PayPal and its welcome offer of 50 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza with no wagering applies to the first deposit; its offer text does not exclude PayPal, but check the terms on the day.

We also verified welcome offers at 888casino, LeoVegas and Sky Casino on 29 September 2026; their offer text does not name PayPal either way, so check the payment line in the full terms. Mr Vegas and William Hill Vegas offers and payment methods are not yet verified, because we could not read their pages. We add figures only after reading each casino’s own terms page. Our how we rate page sets out the method.

Do casino bonuses exclude PayPal deposits?

Some do. Welcome offers often list qualifying payment methods, and e-wallets are sometimes excluded. Of the offers we verified on 29 September 2026, Grosvenor’s excludes PayPal and Paysafe first deposits and Unibet’s qualifies only with debit card or instant bank transfer. Always read the payment method line in the offer terms before you deposit, because using the wrong method can mean the offer never triggers.

If you want both PayPal and a bonus, check the qualifying methods first and decide which matters more to you. Whatever you choose, since 19 January 2026 wagering on UK gambling bonuses is capped at 10x, and offers cannot require you to play different products, such as betting and slots, to unlock them. The casino bonuses hub and our wagering requirements guide cover the details.

How does PayPal compare with other payment methods at UK casinos?

PayPal keeps your card and bank details away from the casino and can often be used for withdrawals. Debit cards are widely used for deposits. Instant bank transfer pays from and to your bank. Vouchers and pay by mobile bill are usually deposit only. Which is best depends on what the casino supports and whether an offer needs a specific method.

Method Casino sees your card or bank details? Usual withdrawal route What to check
PayPal No, only your PayPal account Back to PayPal where offered Withdrawal support, limits, bonus exclusions
Debit card Yes, card details Back to the card Processing time for card payouts
Instant bank transfer You approve in your banking app To your bank account Whether withdrawals are supported
Prepaid voucher No Usually another method Which method the casino pays to
Pay by mobile bill No Usually another method Which method the casino pays to
Credit card Not allowed Not allowed Banned for gambling in GB since 14 April 2020

Checklist for using PayPal at a UK casino
Check the licence, your funding source, withdrawal support and bonus terms.

Is PayPal a safe way to pay a casino?

PayPal means the casino does not receive your card or bank details, which reduces how widely those details are shared. It does not make the casino itself safe. Safety depends on the Gambling Commission licence, fair terms and how the casino protects your balance. Always check the licence first.

The Gambling Commission says money held by a gambling business is not protected like a bank account, and that separating customer funds does not ensure you get money back if the business fails. Casinos must tell you how your funds are protected and show a rating. Withdraw winnings rather than leaving a large balance in the casino.

Also be wary of how easy PayPal makes repeat deposits. One-tap payments are convenient, which is exactly why a deposit limit matters. Set one in the casino account, and look at the free blocking tools listed by BeGambleAware.

What should you do if a PayPal casino payment goes wrong?

For a missing deposit or delayed withdrawal, contact the casino first and follow its complaints process with dates, amounts and screenshots from both accounts. The casino has 8 weeks to resolve a complaint. If you are unhappy with the outcome, you can take it to the Alternative Dispute Resolution provider the casino names.

If the problem is on PayPal’s side, such as a payment stuck in your PayPal account, contact PayPal through its own help centre. Keep the casino and PayPal issues separate, and keep copies of everything.

Why might a casino payment through PayPal be declined?

The usual reasons are an unverified casino account, a credit card set as your PayPal funding source, names that do not match between accounts, a deposit limit you have already reached, or the casino simply not offering PayPal for that transaction. Work through each in turn before you contact support.

  • Verification not finished. In Great Britain a customer cannot place a bet until verified, so a casino may not accept funds until checks are complete.
  • Credit funding source. Casinos must reject e-wallet payments that are not blocked from using credit card funds. Switch to a debit card or bank account in PayPal.
  • Name mismatch. A PayPal account in a different name from your casino account is likely to be refused. Only use accounts in your own name.
  • Limits reached. A deposit limit you set in the casino will block payments above it. That is the tool working as intended.
  • Method not offered. Some casinos accept PayPal only for certain amounts or not at all. Check the cashier.

If you have self-excluded through GAMSTOP, GB-licensed sites should not let you gamble. Do not look for ways around that. If you are finding it hard to stay away, the National Gambling Helpline can help.

What should you check in a casino’s PayPal terms?

Look for six things in the cashier and terms: whether PayPal is offered for deposits and withdrawals, the minimum and maximum amounts, any fees, the processing time for PayPal withdrawals, whether PayPal deposits qualify for offers, and any rule that sends withdrawals back to your deposit method. Write down what you find and the date.

The Gambling Commission says terms must be fair, transparent and in plain and simple language, and that businesses must tell you in advance about significant changes. If the PayPal terms are hard to find or unclear, ask customer support in writing and keep the answer. A casino that cannot explain its own payment terms clearly is a weak choice for your money.

How do you control spending when paying by PayPal?

Set a deposit limit inside the casino account before your first PayPal payment. The Gambling Commission says gambling businesses must make clear how you can set limits on the amount you deposit or spend, and how to request a reality check. Those controls sit with the casino, so they work whichever payment method you use.

Also check your transaction history in both PayPal and the casino from time to time. Seeing every deposit in one list makes it easier to spot when spending creeps up. If it does, take a break, lower your limit, or use a time-out.

Your questions, answered

Can I use PayPal at UK online casinos?

Yes, at licensed casinos that PayPal has approved and that list PayPal in their cashier. PayPal's UK Acceptable Use Policy says gambling merchants need its approval. On their own sites, checked 29 September 2026, Betway, LeoVegas and PlayOJO list PayPal. Confirm it in the cashier before you deposit.

Can I fund a casino deposit through PayPal with a credit card?

No. Credit cards have been banned for gambling in Great Britain since 14 April 2020, including through an e-wallet. The Gambling Commission says casinos must reject e-wallet payments that do not block credit card funds for gambling.

Can I withdraw casino winnings to PayPal?

Often, but it depends on the casino. Some accept PayPal deposits but pay out by another method. Check that PayPal is listed as a withdrawal option and note the processing time the casino states in its cashier or terms.

Do PayPal deposits qualify for casino bonuses?

Not always. Offers often name qualifying payment methods. Grosvenor's welcome offer excludes PayPal and Paysafe first deposits, and Unibet's qualifies with debit card or instant bank transfer only (both checked 29 September 2026). Read the payment method line in the offer terms before you deposit.

Is PayPal a safe way to pay an online casino?

PayPal keeps your card and bank details away from the casino, but it does not make the casino safe. Check that the casino holds a Gambling Commission licence, read its terms and see how it says your funds are protected.

Why was my PayPal casino deposit declined?

Common causes include an unverified casino account, a credit card set as your PayPal funding source, names that do not match, a deposit limit you have reached, or the casino not supporting PayPal for that payment. Check each before contacting support.
