What is a live casino?

A live casino streams real table games from a studio or casino floor. A dealer spins the wheel or deals the cards, and you place bets through an on-screen interface. Results come from the physical game, not a random number generator. Common live games include roulette, blackjack, baccarat and game shows.

The appeal is the pace and the feel of a real table. You can see the dealer, watch the cards or the ball, and often chat with the dealer through a text box. The trade-off is that tables have set stake ranges and fixed round times, so you need to read the table limits before you sit down.

  • Live roulette. A real wheel, with European and other variants depending on the table.
  • Live blackjack. Real cards dealt to a fixed number of seats, with rules shown on the table.
  • Live baccarat. A simple banker or player game with fast rounds.
  • Game shows. Wheel and prize formats hosted by a presenter.

How do you pick a UK live casino?

Check the licence first. The casino should hold an active casino remote licence on the Gambling Commission register. Then look at the table range, the stake limits at each table, the streaming quality on your device, and the safer gambling tools. If you want a bonus, check whether live games count towards its wagering.

Every casino in our table holds an active UKGC licence, checked on 29 September 2026. They are Unibet, bet365, Betway, Grosvenor Casinos, LeoVegas, Mr Vegas, 888casino, PlayOJO, Sky Casino and William Hill Vegas. We have not yet verified the live casino lobby, table count or table limits at any of them, and will add those only after checking each casino's own pages.

Do live casino games count towards bonus wagering?

It depends on the offer. Some casino bonuses give live games a lower contribution to wagering, or exclude them. Always read the significant terms of the offer. Since 19 January 2026, wagering on bonuses in Great Britain is capped at 10 times, but the contribution rules still vary by casino.

All six welcome offers we verified on 29 September 2026 are built around slots. Unibet's needs £30 deposited and staked on slots for 300 free spins on Big Bass Splash, with 10x wagering. Grosvenor's £40 bonus + 100 free spins has the clearest live casino term: live casino counts only 10% towards its 10x deposit + bonus wagering, against 100% for slots, so £10 on a live table clears just £1. 888casino, LeoVegas, PlayOJO and Sky Casino offers are spins or slot bonuses too. Mr Vegas and William Hill Vegas offers are not yet verified. If you mainly play live games, a welcome offer may add little for you.

Also note the mixed-product ban. Since 19 January 2026, operators cannot offer bonuses that require you to play different products to unlock them. A casino cannot, for example, ask you to place a sports bet before you get a live casino bonus.

Which guides are in this section?

This section links every live casino guide we publish. Each one explains how a game works, which rules to check at the table, and what the UK rules say. Guides only name a casino's live games once we have checked its own lobby and terms.

Do stake limits apply to live casino games?

The UK stake limits of £5 per spin for adults aged 25 and over, and £2 per spin for 18 to 24 year olds, apply to online slots. They do not set the limits on live table games. Each live table shows its own minimum and maximum stake, which the casino sets.

That means live tables can carry higher maximum stakes than slots. Check the limits before you join a table and set your own budget in advance. A deposit limit in your account settings is the simplest way to cap your total spend whatever you play.

What should you check at a live table before you bet?

Read the table's rules panel. It shows the game variant, the stake range, the payouts for each bet and any side bets. For blackjack, it shows how many decks are used and the dealer rules. Take a round or two to watch before placing your first bet.

  1. Confirm the game variant and read the payout table.
  2. Check the minimum and maximum stake for that table.
  3. Look for side bets and their payouts, which are usually optional.
  4. Check your connection. A dropped stream mid-round is handled by the table rules.
  5. Set a session budget and a time limit before you start.

Is live casino available on mobile?

Most licensed UK casinos stream live tables to phones and tablets through their website or app. A stable connection matters more than screen size, because a dropped stream mid-round is settled by the table rules. Check the casino's own help pages for device support before you rely on it.

Which live casino games can you play?

The main live casino games are blackjack, roulette, baccarat and game shows. Each is run by a real dealer or presenter, and each has its own round length, stake range and rules panel. The table below explains how each game works in general and what affects your spending, not what any particular casino offers.

Live casino games: live blackjack, live roulette, live baccarat and game shows
The four main types of live casino game and how a round works in each.
GameHow a round worksWhat affects your spending
Live blackjackThe dealer deals real cards to a set number of seats; you decide to hit or stand against the dealerThe table rules, the number of decks, side bets and the table stake range

How does live roulette work?

In live roulette a dealer spins a physical wheel and you place bets on screen before betting closes. You can bet on single numbers, groups of numbers, colours or odds and evens. The result is where the ball lands. The rules panel shows the wheel type, the payouts and the table's minimum and maximum stakes.

Wheel type matters because it changes the house edge. The rules panel will tell you which wheel the table uses. Some tables add features such as multipliers, which change the payouts, so read the panel on each table rather than assuming all roulette tables pay the same.

How does live blackjack work?

In live blackjack the dealer deals real cards to a fixed number of seats. You aim to beat the dealer's hand without going over 21 points. You decide whether to take another card or stand, and the dealer then plays to fixed rules. The rules panel shows the deck count, dealer rules and any side bets.

Seats can fill up at popular tables. Some formats let many players bet on the same hand, which removes the wait for a seat. Side bets are optional and pay on specific card combinations. They usually carry a higher house edge than the main game, so treat them with care.

How is live casino different from standard online table games?

Standard online table games use a random number generator to decide results, and you play alone at your own pace. Live casino uses a physical wheel or real cards, a human dealer and a fixed round timer. Live games feel more social, but the timer sets the pace, so you play the number of rounds the table deals.

Both types should show their rules and payouts. At a GB-licensed casino both are regulated by the Gambling Commission. The practical difference for your budget is pace and table limits: a live table's minimum stake may be higher than a standard game, and you cannot slow the dealer down.

How does live baccarat work?

In live baccarat you bet on whether the player hand or the banker hand will finish closer to nine, or on a tie. The dealer deals both hands and draws extra cards by fixed rules, so you make no decisions after betting. Rounds are short, which means many hands can pass in a session.

The rules panel shows the payouts, including any commission taken on winning banker bets, and any side bets. Because there are no decisions to make, pace is the main thing to manage. Decide how many hands you will play, or how long you will stay, before you start.

What are live game shows?

Live game shows are wheel, dice or prize formats run by a presenter from a studio. You bet on where a wheel or other device will land, and some outcomes trigger bonus rounds with multipliers. They look like entertainment television, but every round is a bet with a house edge built into its payouts.

The bright presentation and bonus rounds can make time pass quickly. Check the paytable for each outcome, note how often rounds start, and set a time limit. A reality check in your account settings will remind you how long you have been playing.

Does the dealer or the studio affect the result?

No. The result comes from the physical game: where the ball lands, which cards are dealt, or where the wheel stops. The dealer runs the game by fixed rules shown in the rules panel. At a GB-licensed casino the games are regulated, and the payouts for each bet are set out before you place it.

What the studio does affect is your experience: stream quality, camera angles, chat and round speed. None of these change the odds. If a stream drops mid-round, the table rules explain how that round is settled, so read that part of the panel before you play.

How do live casino table limits work?

Every live table shows a minimum and maximum stake, set by the casino for that table. Different tables for the same game can have very different ranges. The UK slot stake limits do not apply to live tables, so your own budget and a deposit limit are what keep your spending in check.

Where does the house edge come from in live roulette?

From the zero. A single-zero wheel has 37 pockets, but a straight-up bet pays 35 to 1, as if there were 36. That gap gives the house an edge of 1 in 37, about 2.7%, on standard bets. A wheel with both zero and double zero has 38 pockets, which raises the edge to 2 in 38, about 5.3%.

You can check this yourself from the game's own rules and paytable. The table below shows the arithmetic for common bets on a single-zero wheel with standard payouts.

BetPockets that winStandard payoutChance per spin
Straight up (one number)1 of 3735 to 11 in 37
Split (two numbers)2 of 3717 to 12 in 37
Dozen12 of 372 to 112 in 37
Red or black18 of 371 to 118 in 37

Every bet in the table carries the same edge of about 2.7%, because the zero is never a winner for these bets. Some tables add side rules or bonus multipliers that change the paytable. Always read the rules panel in the game, provided by the game studio, before you bet.

What does a live session cost? A worked example

Multiply your stake by the number of rounds, then by the house edge. As an example, £5 bets over 60 rounds stake £300. At the 2.7% edge of single-zero roulette, the long run average cost is about £8.10. The real result of any session will be higher or lower, sometimes by a lot.

Wheel typeTotal stakedHouse edge (from the maths)Average cost
Single zero (37 pockets)£300About 2.7%About £8.10
Double zero (38 pockets)£300About 5.3%About £15.80

The number of rounds you play in an hour depends on the table and the studio, so we use 60 rounds as a round number for the example only. The takeaway is that the wheel type and the number of rounds matter more than any betting pattern, because no pattern changes the edge on each spin.

Which blackjack rules should you check at a live table?

Check what a blackjack pays, whether the dealer hits or stands on soft 17, how many decks are used, and when you can double or split. These rules change the house edge. They are set in the game's rules panel by the studio and can differ between tables at the same casino, so read them each time.

RuleCommon optionsWhy it matters
Blackjack payout3 to 2 or 6 to 53 to 2 pays more on every natural blackjack
Dealer on soft 17Stands or hitsStanding on soft 17 is generally better for the player
Number of decksVaries by tableFewer decks is generally slightly better for the player
Doubling and splittingRules varyMore flexible rules generally help the player

The payout rule is the easiest to see in money. On a £10 bet, a blackjack paid at 3 to 2 returns £15 in winnings. At 6 to 5, it returns £12. That £3 difference on every blackjack adds up over a session, so skip tables with the lower payout if you have the choice.

How does commission work on the banker bet in baccarat?

Many baccarat tables charge a commission on winning banker bets, because the banker hand wins slightly more often. A common rate is 5%, though you must check the table's rules. As a worked example at 5%, a winning £10 banker bet pays £9.50 instead of £10. Some tables use different commission rules instead.

  • Check whether the table charges commission and at what rate.
  • Check the payout and rules for any tie or side bets before placing them.
  • Remember every bet type carries a house edge, whatever the pattern of recent results.

How do live casino rules compare across the main games?

Each live game has one or two rules that drive its house edge: the number of zeros in roulette, the blackjack payout and dealer rules, the banker commission in baccarat, and the paytable in game shows. The table below shows what to read first in each game's rules panel before you place a bet.

GameRule that drives the edgeWhere to find it
RouletteSingle zero or double zero wheel, and any bonus multipliersThe game's rules or paytable panel
BlackjackBlackjack payout, dealer on soft 17, number of decksThe table's rules panel
BaccaratBanker commission and side bet payoutsThe table's rules panel
Game showsThe paytable for each segment or bonus roundThe game's help screen

These are general points about how the games work, not claims about any named casino's tables. Our rating method explains how we check a casino before listing it, and our slots hub covers the separate stake limits that apply to online slots.

Does the last spin or hand affect the next one in live roulette?

No. On a fair roulette wheel each spin is independent, so the chance of red is 18 in 37 on a single-zero wheel every time, whatever came before. A run of black does not make red due. Results boards show recent outcomes, but they cannot predict the next spin, and no betting system changes the edge.

Progressive systems that raise stakes after a loss only increase how much you stake. They do not change the 2.7% edge on each spin, and a losing run can push stakes past your budget or the table maximum quickly. Set a loss limit before you sit down and stop when you reach it.

How do you stay in control at a live table?

Live games are fast and social, which can make time slip by. Set a deposit limit and turn on reality checks before you start. Decide how much you will spend and when you will stop, and stick to both. Never increase stakes to win back losses.

Your questions, answered

What is a live casino?

A live casino streams real table games such as roulette, blackjack and baccarat, run by a real dealer. You bet through an on-screen interface and the result comes from the physical game. Tables have set stake ranges shown in their rules panel.

Do the £5 and £2 stake limits apply to live casino?

No. Those Gambling Commission limits apply to online slots. Live tables have their own minimum and maximum stakes set by the casino and shown on each table. Set your own budget and a deposit limit before you play.

Do live games count towards bonus wagering?

It depends on the offer. Some bonuses give live games a lower contribution or exclude them. Read the significant terms. Wagering is capped at 10x in Great Britain since 19 January 2026, but contribution rules still vary by casino.

Which casinos in your table offer live casino?

All ten casinos in our table hold an active UKGC casino remote licence. We have not yet verified the live lobby, table count or table limits at any of them, and we will add those only after checking each casino's own pages.

Which live casino games are there?

The main live games are blackjack, roulette, baccarat and game shows. Each is run by a real dealer or presenter and streamed to your screen. Every table shows its own rules, payouts and stake range, so read the rules panel before placing your first bet.

Is live casino different from standard online table games?

Yes. Standard online table games use a random number generator and let you play at your own pace. Live casino uses a real wheel or cards, a human dealer and a round timer. Live games feel more social, but the table sets the pace and the stake range.

Why does single-zero roulette have a lower house edge?

A single-zero wheel has 37 pockets and a straight-up bet pays 35 to 1, giving an edge of 1 in 37, about 2.7%. A double-zero wheel has 38 pockets, raising the edge to about 5.3%. Check the wheel type in the game's rules panel.

What blackjack payout should I look for at a live table?

Look for blackjack paying 3 to 2. On a £10 bet that pays £15, while a 6 to 5 table pays £12. Also check whether the dealer stands on soft 17 and how many decks are used, as these rules also change the house edge.
