Tom Ashby is the Casino Editor at Online Casino Hub. He is responsible for the casino table, the reviews and the guides on this site, and for keeping every fact in them checkable.
What is Tom responsible for?
Tom is responsible for what goes into our casino table and what our reviews and guides say. That means checking each licence on the Gambling Commission register, reading each casino's own terms, recording the date of every check and correcting anything that turns out to be out of date.
| Responsibility | What it involves | Source he uses |
|---|---|---|
| Licence checks | Confirming an active casino remote licence and recording the account number, licence number, start date and check date. | UKGC public register |
| Offer terms | Reading and recording wagering, expiry, eligible games and qualifying payment methods. | The casino's own promotions and terms pages |
| Rules | Stating UK rules only when they can be cited. | Gambling Commission and gov.uk |
| Scores | Applying the six weighted categories once terms are verified. | Our published method |
| Corrections | Rechecking reported errors and updating check dates. | The original primary source |
How does Tom check a casino's licence?
Tom checks each casino against the Gambling Commission public register before it can be listed. He records the operator, the UKGC account number, the licence number, the licence start date and the date of his check. If a casino remote licence is not active, the casino stays out of the table. That is why Casumo, whose licence showed as surrendered on the register on 29 September 2026, is not listed.
He also matches the brand and website to the operator named on the register and in the casino's terms. If they do not line up, the casino is held back until they do.
How does Tom check offer terms?
He reads each casino's offer terms on its own promotions page. He does not copy bonuses from other review sites or affiliate feeds. He records the qualifying deposit and stake, the wagering, the expiry, the eligible games and the payment methods that qualify, together with the date he read them. Where he has not yet been able to read a casino's current terms, the page says so and the figures stay blank.
Tom also checks each offer against the current rules, including the 10x cap on bonus wagering and the ban on mixed-product promotions, both in force since 19 January 2026.
What rules does Tom follow when writing?
Tom follows the same short set of rules on every page. They exist so that you can check anything he writes against a public source, and so that a missing fact is shown as missing rather than filled with a guess.
- Licence first: an active UKGC casino remote licence is the entry requirement.
- Primary sources only: the UKGC register, gov.uk, the casino's own terms and the support services themselves.
- Dates on everything: every licence and offer figure shows when it was checked.
- Scores only after terms are verified, using the weighted categories set out on our how we rate page.
- Blank rather than guessed: if something cannot be verified, it is left out.
- No promises of winning and no pressure to deposit.
What does Tom not do?
Tom does not accept payment to list a casino, change a review or move a casino up the table. He does not publish withdrawal times, game counts, RTP figures or scores he has not verified. He does not write about casinos that are not licensed in Great Britain.
